He has been on the GOPI committee since 2002 and became the Chairperson in 2003. John was a member of the School of Biological Sciences at Victoria University of Wellington for 25 years, first as Professor of Zoology and then as Dean of Science, until retiring in 2001. Wendy has been a Whitby resident for over 20 years and a member of GOPI since 2005. Angela works in Wellington heading a product team for a Rural Insurer. Having been lured out of Centrral Wellington to Plimmerton in 1996 she quickly became enchanted with the area. Helping to build a friend's farmhouse saw her travelling round the Inlet nearly every weekend. 'Travelling the road so regularly and in all seasons for so long undoubtedly created a sense of belonging for me and it was an area I pined for while working in Auckland for an 18-month period,' she says. Angela is a volunteer with the heritage rose project at St Alban's and was co-opted to the GOPI committee in September 2010.
Janet joined the GOPI committee after the 2005 AGM. She had been involved with stream monitoring for about a year when she was invited to join the committee. She is now the Membership Secretary. Janet has lived in Pauatahanui for more than 13 years, overlooking the inlet. She is interested in conservation generally, with a leaning to biological matters.
